Mission Statement As a practicing, registered, ITEC qualified Massage and Reflexology Therapist my belief is that “Complementary” means just that i.e. it compliments the clinical work carried out by doctors and surgeons and helps to improve patient comfort, reduce stress and anxiety levels; promotes wellbeing and relaxation all of which help to speed up the patients healing process.I am an advocate of working with the clinical/medical system and believe that complementary therapies can help to improve a patients journey when working hand in hand with conventional medicine.
My aim is to be able to help improve a patient’s journey through illness by providing massage techniques that have been proven to achieve this amongst patients in the United States. The three year massage study carried out at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York showed that symptoms such as pain, fatigue, anxiety, nausea and depression amongst cancer patients were reduced by approximately 50%. During my medical massage for cancer clients training, patients found that massage helped to alleviate their symptoms of peripheral neuropathy, reduce anxiety and assist in relaxation. I have chosen to work with Lindi Skin Care Products due to their extensive Medical Advisory Board. Having been a part of a loved one’s cancer journey it is my belief that whilst under the watchful eyes of our doctors and surgeons Complementary Therapies can enhance conventional medicine and work for the common good of the patient through approaching the patient’s physical and psychological needs holistically, whilst under the direction of their Consultants and/or Doctors.
Professor Tom Keane, Interim Director of the National Cancer Control Programme at Cancer 2009 stressed the following: “One of the key priorities of cancer control is the creation of new knowledge and the subsequent transfer of this knowledge from the laboratories to the bedside”
